在加拿大教“淘汰郎“中文

我体会到的加拿大中文教学 (2010-03-09 04:52)   学生们只有周末来学两个半小时,效果很不理想。(编者注:刘老师班上的学生都是别的中文班不要或者实在跟不上“淘汰”下来的6-9岁加拿大男孩儿。) 他们的作业也经常忘了做。上课有的孩子注意力不集中,DAYDREAMING。有的照本宣科,会念课文,也会造句,在实际情境中不会用。其实,语言需要不停练习才会真的使用。就像我们学英文也是一样,如果只在课堂上学,下来不用,很快就忘了。我在中国学的英文基本到这里来都没法用,过时的,书本语言,除了一点单词还管用,全部重新学的。所以,我很能体会孩子们的苦恼。也因为此,我有时会抛开课本,讲点节日典故和朗朗上口的数来宝,以及歌谣。小孩子记忆力好,带他们一起背诵不难,当然要用英文讲明白是什么意思,起码他们要明白他们背的什么。到期末考试时,发现他们竟然还记得某个歌谣,让我兴奋不已。 目前在中文教学的各个参与者的状态是: 孩子们被迫来,跟着老师混钟点,但对故事和笑话比较感兴趣。 家长是想学点算点,不抱期望; 校长是说对教师素质还是负责的,但重要的是把生源维持住; 老师是觉得我会认真教,但是你到底能学多少,靠你们家长了。 我用的那套指定教材实在是不敢恭维: 内容乏味,最要命的是脱离加拿大实际生活; 没有突出明显的句型,一篇课文下来,内容不少,重点不突出; 练习方法不活泼,跟中国大陆传统的练习方法类似,死板枯燥。 我自己就对教材不满意,教学时缺乏热情。而真正对中文教学感兴趣或者想研究的教师不多,大部分是做一天和尚撞一天钟。我应该算比较认真的一个,不停找些课外读物补充我们枯燥的课本,但我没有,也不可能投入更多时间了。  结论:如果有更好的教材出现,应该是主题性质的,在同一个主题下面分不同水平,不同方式的练习题。这样适合不同年龄段和不同水平的学生,比如同样是讲中国传统节日,幼儿园和中学生要掌握的内容以及难度是不同的。相应的练习和补充读物也是分级的。教师可以根据情况取舍,套餐性质的。  教材的形式最好是剧本式的,加一点朗朗上口的歌谣。角色扮演永远是被活泼的儿童所喜欢的,而且容易记住对话的。目前每个班是6-9个学生。编的小儿童短剧可以是4-8个角色的。但是,内容一定要简单,不要有过多生词,会把这里的学生吓跑的。 原载:http://blog.sina.com.cn/s/blog_5381607f0100hgz3.html
