K-12 State-Adopted Chinese Language Curriculum for Chinese Teachers and Schools in Texas
I have some exciting news to share with you all. Better Chinese K-12 curricular materials and online programs are state-adoptedin Texas!
What is state-adoption? Last year, Better Chinese participated in a review process that examined whether or not their curriculum correlates with Texas state standards for foreign language learning. Better Chinese sent in their materials to various educational service centers as well as individual reviewers for examination. After several months of reviewing, Texas educators concluded that Better Chinese materials were very much suitable for their students who are learning Chinese.
The question you might ask is: what does state-adopted curriculum mean for me as a Chinese teacher in Texas? Once materials are state adopted, your school can apply for state funding to purchase state-approved textbooks. For elementary programs, teachers can look at our two series, My First Chinese Words and My First Chinese Reader, which are appropriate for K-2 and Grades 3-5 respectively. Our secondary school curriculum includes Discovering Chinese, for Grades 6-12, and our more advances series, Magical Tour of China, are suggested for students in Grades 9-12. Aside from the textbooks, workbooks, teacher’s guides, worksheets, and assessments, we also have a wide array of supplemental materials such as multimedia, readers, online story library subscriptions as well as an online learning management system to help teachers create a more comprehensive, engaging and interactive classroom learning environment.
