Better Chinese is a leading publisher of Chinese language learning materials. Started from 2008, our blog has been followed by language educators worldwide covering the topic of Homeschooling, Chinese language and culture, and language teaching pedagogy. As we are entering the 7th year of Better Chinese blog, we gladly invite all teachers or educators to join our forum and submit your article in the hope of becoming Better Chinese guest blogger and get your article published on Better Chinese web page. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment and let us know.   Submission Detail: Submit your article and your most recent resume as word document to joanne.hsu(at)betterchinese.com or fan.sun(at)betterchinese.com. Name your email title and your word file as “BC blog-Your name-Your article title”. If you have pictures, videos or other teaching materials to share, include pictures in your text and submit videos or additional teaching materials as separate attachments. Selected candidates will be notified by us and earn an opportunity to be a Better Chinese blogger.   Suggested Topics Area 1: Practice-focused (English/Chinese)
  • Teaching tips on abstract concept.
  • How to teach students about... (e.g. Chinese New Year).
  • How to encourage more speaking.
  • How to teach Chinese characters/ writing techniques/ stroke order.
  • How to decode writing samples.
Area 2: Academic-focused (English) Second language acquisition and pedagogy. Content related to Chinese teaching preferred, but not required.
  • Teaching Approaches/ Pedagogy: TBLT (Task-based Language Teaching), PBL (Project-based Learning), Flipped Learning.
  • Bilingual education: immersion, content-based language instruction.
  • Professional development: reflective teaching, teacher action research, native vs. nonnative target-language-speaking teacher.
Area 3: Create your own topic (DIY) (English/ Chinese) If you have anything interesting to share about language teaching, feel free to create your own topic.   Picture/ Video Requirement If you have pictures or videos to share, we encourage you to be the owner of the picture/video that was taken and/or made by you. Insert picture in your text and submit your video as separate attachment file.   Content Requirement For practical articles: feel free to include pictures/ videos/ teaching materials in your article. Lesson plan is also encouraged together with your submission. Please tell us the RATIONALE behind your approach-why you use this particular strategy/ resource and why you think it contributes to language acquisition.
