How do I place an order?

You can place an order via our website (www.betterchinese.com), email us (usa@betterchinese.com), call (1-650-384-0902) or fax (702-442-7968) in an order form. All materials (books, CDs, CD-ROMs, DVDs, online curriculum) can be placed in one order.

Do you offer school discounts?

We no longer offer discounts to schools due to rising production costs. Over the past 3 years, we have not raised our prices for the materials despite increasing production costs. Our company has decided that instead of raising product prices, we want to strive to maintain the current pricing for upcoming years.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payment via:

  • Credit Card: We accept American Express, Mastercard, and Visa.  We'll need the credit card type, name on card, card number, expiration date, and billing address (5 digit zip code required).

What’s your examination copy policy?

Thank you for considering Better Chinese books for use in your classroom. Better Chinese is pleased to provide examination copies to qualified instructors who are interested in examining our complete pedagogy for our 5 series for classroom adoption consideration.

Ordering Process
If you wish us to process your request for an examination copy, please email us at usa@betterchinese.com with Subject: Examination Copy Request. If you wish us to process your request for an examination copy by mail or fax, please send your request on school letterhead. Please include the following information.
  • School or district
  • Your name, title, email, and contact telephone number
  • Mailing address (home ok, please indicate home)
  • Name of the class and grade level
  • Semester for which you are considering the book
  • Expected enrollment
  • Please specify Simplified or Traditional Chinese characters

How do I track my order?

A shipping confirmation email should have been sent to you when your order was shipped. If you did not receive this email, please login to your account and check your order status. If you placed the order directly with us, but did not receive an email, please contact Customer Support for your
order status.

Out of stock/backorder?

If a product you ordered is currently backordered, a customer representative will contact you via email to confirm when your order will be shipped out. Typically, it is around two weeks.

To make an inquiry about an item that is shown as "Out of Stock" please email usa@betterchinese.com.

What is your return policy?

We offer returns for most items within 15 days of receipt of shipment. However, multimedia products, book sets, game/flash cards, worksheets and assessments cannot be returned once they are opened. No returns on online subscriptions and promotional items. In order to receive a full refund, please return your product(s) to the following address.

Please include a copy of your invoice and mark the item(s) you want to return and the reason for your return. Once we receive the product, we will refund you the amount minus the shipping fee, if the items meet the above criteria and fall within the 15 day return window.

How long does shipping take?

Domestic (United States):
Domestic shipments takes 2-3 working days to process your order and anywhere from 3-7 days to ship depending on the type of shipping you choose:  FedEx Ground (5-7 days) or UPS 3-day guaranteed.


  1. Retail Customers: If you are purchasing through our website, international shipping costs beyond North America will be based on the type of products, quantity, and location of your purchase. 

    We will adjust a lower shipping rate during order processing (usually less than $100) according to other international shipping methods.  

In other words, the shipping estimate that you see when you go through the shopping cart on our website won't be the amount that we charge you for shipping. We will adjust that amount based on what you ordered and your location (amount is always lower) and then send the invoice to you to verify before we process your credit card payment.

    If you would like to go ahead and purchase our products, you can do so on our website. Please DO NOT select PayPal. When we receive your order, we will verify with you the shipping costs and then once we receive a confirmation, we will ship it based on the adjusted price.

  2. School Customers: We will check shipping costs from our international office to see if a less expensive mode can be found.  Before we do so, please email us at usa@betterchinese.com the following information:

    - shipping address
    - the specific items you want to purchase (product code and title)
    -quantity of each item
    -telephone number

    Once we receive the information, we will calculate the shipping cost and get back to you as soon as possible.

Why is shipping so expensive?

All of our products are shipped according to the shipping weight per item from our warehouse. Shipping and handling fees include shipping charges by customer's location, the method of shipment, and the fees that are charged by the warehouse for stocking these items.
